***Foods with serotonin, the hormone of happiness***

In this article I am going to talk about serotonin, the hormone of happiness, and how taking food that generates it the quality of life can be better.

We eat junk food because it gives us happiness and get out of our reality. For no eating junk food and however keep us happy, we must eat foods that give us serotonin, the hormone of happiness, which helps us to be more relaxed, less nervous and more calm.

What is serotonin?

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter wich is directly related to our mood, with our levels of happiness. For this reason this hormone helps us to have a good mood, to sleep better, it makes us feel calm, it gives us peace of mind and makes us live longer.

Our brain take this hormone through an amino acid, tryptophan. In order for our brain to absorb this amino acid and transform it into serotonin, we must take carbohydrates, but no alone!!! no only carbohydrates give serotonin, always together with food wich contain tryptophan.

Blue Fish: Salmon, tuna, have large amounts of tryptophan. Next to a salad and rice you will get a complete dish to improve the mood.
White meat: Chicken, duck, rabbit are especially rich in tryptophan. A plate of pasta with asparagus can be a great option to get a smile.
Eggs: Eggs are an ideal complement to add tryptophan and, therefore, serotonin to our body. A Cuban rice with tomato, banana and egg will give us energy and calm.
Dairy Products: Cheese, yogurt or milk can potentiate serotonin in our body. A fresh salad with light yogurt sauce is a good option to feel good.
Legumes: For example, chickpeas are foods with a large amount of tryptophan. A hummus with fresh vegetables will keep us calm.
Cereals: For example rye, corn. Start the day with a good toast of rye bread with avocado and egg will make you wear a smile wherever you go.
Nuts: Almonds, Cashews. The fruits not only help to produce serotonin, they are also rich in magnesium, powerful anti-stress agent. Add them to any of your dishes or use them in your half mornings or snacks.
Fruits: The pineapple and banana stand out in its composition of tryptophan.
Vegetables: Asparagus or spinach. Vegetables are rich is carbohydrates and some are a source of vegetable protein.
Chocolate: Chocolate is the king of food to lift our spirits. The ideal amount per day is between 8 and 20 grams of a purity greater than 70%.
